2010 CONFERENCE

Dear Colleagues,

The exciting news is that the SCSC in Montreal will be our largest conference ever, with 35-40 more panels than our previous record-breaker in Toronto, for a total of 223 panels. As you will see from the program, it promises to be a fabulous conference! You can download the draft program from the link below. The Track Directors and I have worked hard to put together a balanced program, but given the size of the conference, some overlap among sessions was inevitable. If you see any errors in the program, please bring them to my attention (cyandell@carleton.edu) as soon as possible. However, since EVERY ROOM IS TAKEN AT EVERY HOUR, it is unlikely that we will be able honor requests for schedule changes. Scheduling requests submitted with the abstracts have been honored, and we have tried to avoid scheduling European and Asian colleagues on Sunday. Thank you very much for your understanding.

We have a new feature in the program this year: the Thursday evening plenary panels from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Given the enthusiasm that these panels will no doubt generate, we hope that you will take them into account in making your travel arrangements, as well as the many engaging papers to be delivered on Sunday morning. Also, please note that the all-conference reception will take place after Natalie Zemon Davis's plenary on Friday evening, and that Timothy Hampton will be giving a plenary lecture at the beautiful Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Secours Chapel early Saturday evening. The Chapel is located in the heart of Vieux Montréal, where you can join colleagues after the talk for dinner in one of the many intimate restaurants of the neighborhood.

We look forward to seeing you in Montreal!

With all best wishes,

Cathy Yandell
SCSC VP and Program Chair
